The Offline Years

I started the Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation in 2007 with a group of local business and civil society leaders.  Together we were hoping to build a platform for philanthropy which might aggregate community resources around community leaders.  Over the years we managed to engage more than 5,000 families as monthly donors in a community of 36,000 and fund hundreds of projects.  In 2011, as the community stepped up, I stepped down to take on my growing duties with TechSoup.  This video was waiting for me when I came back for the annual gala in 2012 and shows.

I learned a hell of a lot during this time about management, organizations, people, and the space that is Central and Eastern Europe.  ‘Formative’ doesn’t even begin to describe.
